Thought Leadership

Thought leadership is the practice of publicly sharing original perspective, analysis, or point of view on issues within a professional's field. It differs from generic content marketing in that it takes a position, rather than only summarizing existing information, which is what earns attention from peers, media, and prospective clients.

Example

A physician publishing commentary on an emerging treatment approach, with a clear point of view, is practicing thought leadership; reposting general health tips is not.
