Visibility Gap

A visibility gap is the distance between a professional's real expertise and track record, and what is actually visible when someone searches for them online. A highly qualified professional with a thin or outdated search presence has a large visibility gap; closing it does not require becoming more qualified, only more discoverable.

Example

A 15-year practicing attorney whose only search result is a decade-old firm bio page has a significant visibility gap relative to their actual experience.
